It’s easy to setup ContaCam to use your Cloud Client folder so that the recorded files can be viewed remotely on another computer or on a smartphone. Here we take Dropbox as an example, but it works with any Cloud Service Provider.

Prerequisite: Dropbox client is installed on all the involved machines.

Attention: Dropbox has a space limit, so remember to set a Maximum camera folder size in ContaCam's Camera Basic Settings dialog.

Hint: in ContaCam's Camera Advanced Settings dialog lower the live snapshot rate to one snapshot per minute otherwise Dropbox will not update the live jpeg snapshot files.

On the PC where ContaCam is capturing

  1. Open your Dropbox and create a ContaCam folder in it.
  2. In ContaCam's Global Settings dialog set the above created directory as Parent Directory of all Cameras, usually:
    C:\Users\Your User Name\Dropbox\ContaCam

Hint: use Dropbox selective sync to exclude camera folders from Dropbox.

Note: because of web server constraints it's not possible to change the location for individual cameras. Advanced users can create junctions or symlinks remembering to place the files inside the Dropbox folder and have the link outside of it because Windows doesn't propagate file system events to both ends of the link, just the "real" end.

On as many remote PCs as you like

  1. Install ContaCam and in Global Settings dialog set the Dropbox’s ContaCam directory as Parent Directory of all Cameras, usually:
    C:\Users\Your User Name\Dropbox\ContaCam
  2. On ContaCam’s main background click one of the two web links.

On your Smartphone

Install Dropbox and navigate to the ContaCam folder, here open the files you are interested in.
